How to play Brinechart
Find the whole fleet. Each number tells you how many ship segments belong in its row or column.
Fleet rules
- Use every ship in the fleet key. “2 × 3” means two ships, each three cells long.
- A ship is one continuous horizontal or vertical line. It cannot bend or have gaps.
- Different ships need a cell of sea between them. They cannot touch along an edge or at a corner.
- Sealed ship and sea cells are fixed clues. All other cells may be marked or cleared.
Mark the chart
- Choose Ship or Sea, then select a cell. Use Clear to remove a mark.
- Match each row and column total, then compare the ship lengths with the fleet key.
- The chart finishes when the fleet fits every rule. Remaining unmarked cells become sea. Choose Next chart to continue.
Undo, check and hint
Undo removes your last mark, including a hint. Check highlights rule conflicts already visible in your marks; it does not confirm that an unfinished chart can be solved. Hint places one forced mark and explains why. If your marks cannot fit the fleet, clear or undo a mark first.
Restart clears only the current chart. The chart menu keeps separate progress for all eight charts.
Keyboard
Tab into the chart. Arrow keys move between cells; Home and End move to the first and last cell in a row. Press S for ship, W for sea, and X, Delete or Backspace to clear. Enter or Space applies the selected tool. Sealed clues can be read but stay fixed.
